After numerous low ten second passes, Nathan has steered the VY to Australia's first N/A LS1 9 second pass. The 14th of July at Calder was the location for the record breaking runs. Proving a repeatable result, the VY reeled off a pair of sub ten second passes, recording a best time of 9.93 @ 139mph. This time, combined with a previous personal best of 142 mph show the proven power of the Higgins Race Developments built engine combo.

Update: Since breaking into the 9's, the ute now has a best run of 9.1 @151mph. Watch this space...

Coming a long way since it was first featured in Street Commodores in 2004, the VY now runs a 403ci engine with eight throttle bodies, and is now the first N/A non NOS LS1 in Australia to make a 9 second pass. The record was sealed on 14 July 2006, with the sub ten second runs and a best of 9.93 @ 139 mph. This hard work has continued to see the current best of 9.1 @ 151mph

The Higgins Race Developments VY ute is the perfect showcase for the work of Higgins Race developments, incorporating all of the best that the workshop has to offer. The first stock stroke, naturally aspirated Ls1 in the country to crack the 10 second barrier, the ute currently holds the Australian record for a n/a 346 ci LS1, tearing down the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds @ 131MPH.
